Rug Cleaning
The frequent inspection and cleaning of oriental rugs, whether used as floor furnishings or wall hangings, should be included in any household maintainer program. Grit trapped in carpet pile can quickly cause visible wear through abrasion, particularly on rugs piled with soft wool.
Dirt allowed settling and compact around the knots at the base of the pile restrict the ability of the foundations to adjust to the subtle tensions caused by changes in temperature and humidity and may eventually cause it to weaken and break. Rugs used as wall hangings will not, obviously, suffer abrasive wear, but dust and greasy cooking smoke, if allowed to accumulate over long periods, will dull the colors and luster.
Our hand washing process usually takes a week. PICKUP and DELIVER services are available*. To find out about our Free Pickup and Delivery Service, please contact us.

Rug Restoration and Repair
Genuine Oriental rugs are made of wool, silk, or a combination of wool and silk. Rugs of wool are more durable and wear longer than synthetic fabrics. Wool is more resilient, cleans better and stays clean longer. Newer rugs seldom need repairing. Old antique rugs at times need to be rewoven where areas are worn.
A good repair job will not only bring it back to its original condition, but will protect it from further damage. New fringe may need to be added if it has been worn or damaged. When damage does occur, a professional rug weaver can solve most problems. Professional restorers can reconstruct the foundation and reweave the pile, sew tears, coil selvedges, and repair or replace borders.

Rug Storage
The proper storage of oriental rugs is not easy to manage in the average domestic environment. Hot dry attics and cool damp cellars can cause problems, and closets are apt to be too small or already overcrowded.
You will want to store rugs for two different basic reasons. The first is that the rugs that look warm and glowing in winter may make your home seem stuffy and over furnished in summer. The second reason is threefold and has as much to do with your rugs well being as your own rugs will last longer if exposed to family traffic only part of each year.
The Rug Center provides you with this wonderful opportunity to store your rugs.

Underlayments
No matter how smooth your floor may be, always place some form of padding between the floor and your oriental rug. These kinds of underlayments clearly show the following merits:
· Unprotected underside of the rug won't wear out
· Rugs will be much softer to walk on
· And it won't slip from beneath your feet as you are walking
If you plan to put the rug on a polished floor you will need one of the rubber underlay. A thin layer of underlayment is made up of spongy and sticky fabrics that works as insulation and prevents the rug from pests underneath it.
If you plan to place your oriental rug on top of wall-to-wall carpeting, the carpeting should have a short pile. Shag carpeting and oriental rugs never mix. If the pile of your carpet is deep, the Oriental rug will wrinkle easily and "float" about. To fix this problem, we carry a product called Rug lock, which is a lightweight flat sheet. This flat sheets is sticky both sides, which grips both the underside of the oriental and the topside of the carpeting, holding the rug firmly in place.
While purchasing in the Rug Center, you will get a free padding with your first purchase.
